CARLY SORENSON
Carly Sorenson stitches, writes, and teaches in New York City. She makes textile art from sustainable, reused, and inherited materials, which is why she calls this ongoing body of work Heirloom NYC. She is fascinated by context, hegemony, agency, and inheritance. Some of her inheritances include maintenance work (sometimes called women’s work), capitalism and the need to survive within it, white privilege, queer leather culture, and her grandmother’s embroidery floss. Her textile art piece “Watch Me” has previously been displayed at the RIVAA gallery.
