LIZ B NYC

Liz B NYC is a New York City native and self-taught multidisciplinary artist who draws inspiration from her indigenous Taíno, Arawak culture, the streets of NYC and her travels.

Liz is one of the co-founders of The Watermelon Misfits, a collective of women of color, who came together after the recent genocide in Gaza. The collective is committed to liberation through art.

I created this piece “Justicia Para Ramona” because I wanted to bring awareness to the ongoing displacement of natives on the island (Puerto Rico). Ramona has lived in her family home for nearly 70 years. It's the home she was raised in and was passed down generations. Developers are trying to force her out. Ramona's story is not unique. Private investors and developers are pushing out natives all across the island. Our sacred Taíno lands and archaeological sites are also at risk.

Proceeds will be donated to Ramona's family to help continue the fight. Follow Ramona's grandchild @jaimee_oficiall for updates.
