REINHARDT
Reinhardt (They/Them, b.1996 - California, USA) is an artist based out of Brooklyn, NY. Their practice hinges on a three-part ethos of Emotional Aestheticism, Historical Reconfiguration, and Art as Research. All three parts work together to create a practice that builds upon personal experience and a love of expression. All of their work ties together their personal history, convictions, and passions to create pieces that extend the self into the physical. They have a minimalist style designed to encourage further engagement by the viewer and evoke deeper thought and emotion.
Reinhardt holds a BA in Media, Culture, and the Arts from The King’s College, NYC (2017) and an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths, University of London (2020). Their work is featured in the collections of Centre Pompidou, Hudson Valley Museum of Contemporary Art, Killscreen, Hong Kong Contemporary Art Foundation, Artwrld, and more. Reinhardt is also an author, published poet, curator, and gamer.
— Renditions on Error is a meditation on monotony and the hatred that grows from the small seeds of others’ indifferent actions. A blank paper was scanned then printed, showing the defects present on the scanner bed. Then that printed page was scanned and printed again, repeated 21 times to represent the amount of time in months spent at the company. Each piece gets subsequently darker and redder to indicate the weight of emotional burden the artist bore in this role as time progressed. 21 pieces bear the mark of the machines that processed them and one is completely clean as representation of the artist’s state prior to taking the position.
